Construction & General Division Queensland Branch A Proud Sponsor of YoungCare

At our recent 150 year Delegates Convention Dinner, Michael Ravbar, on behalf of the CFMEU and its members, proudly presented Nick Bonifant from YoungCare a cheque in excess of $50,000.00
Construction & General Division Queensland Branch Official Peter Close writes of YoungCare;

YoungCare care for people aged between 18 - 50 years, because the government don't have any place for those age groups to go except to old aged homes. Imagine being 26 years old and being placed in a old aged home because there is no where else to go. Pretty sad, as were some of the stories I heard on the radio where parents had to place their own children in aged care facilities. Another good thing is that YoungCare will work with us to do a project, i.e. build duplex houses, retro fit homes with wheelchair access or even buy a bus and put our name on it "CFMEU Courtesy Bus". Anyway we are proud to be associated with YoungCare.

More than 6500 young Australians are currently living in aged care facilities - simply because there are few alternatives. Right now, there are over 6500 young Australians living in aged care - simply because there are very limited alternatives. In addition, there are a further 700 000 more struggling at home with support from family, friends and a range of community groups. Clearly this is inappropriate.
