About the CFMEU

The CFMEU is a progressive and militant union representing workers in the building, construction and related fields, forestry and forest products and mining and energy. It is an amalgamation of forerunner unions representing Australian workers for over 150 years.

The CFMEU and its forebears have driven great changes in the industries we cover to the benefit of generations of working Australians and their families.

We have a proud history replete with tough struggles, frequent memorable victories and occasional bitter defeats.
